Little things

img_6934compIn this shop I found some nice window furniture in the shape of crocodiles. There’s a whole bunch of little things that still need to be done, in order to finish the house, so there’s a lot of shops that need to be hit and a lot of small jobs to do. And this is what shopping in the Gambia looks like:noisy taxi’s on bumpy roads with nosy drivers, noisy shops with a lot of people trying to get a commission on what you buy. But also: very friendly people that are very patient with you while explaining what you need. People that give you discounts when they like okt-2012-001-174compyou (provided you ask for it) and people who don’t mind their picture being taken, while they’re working. If you take your time and when you’re open to it, shopping can be a great day out. Exhausting, but great…

  1. Great site! Thank you for your blog. Gambia is truly wonderful country, as you begin to experience it. President Yahya Jammeh is helping to make significant improvements. Our country’s health is improving. children are required to get immunizations, and this is a big help. And of course we also have progress in other important areas such as respect for women and religious beliefs. We continue to make progress and it is nice for you to be in my country to document your sights.
