When the “trip of stone” finally arrived, there were an awful lot of people on board of the truck. Dressed in nice clothes, with briefcases and bags. Puzzling… It turned out to be the driver’s kindness. He took on people standing by the road who were waiting for transport. And so, they all came along to the place where he had to deliver the stone and joined him on his way back to be taken to their destinations afterwards. There was a petrol shortage in the Gambia that day and that’s what Gambians do; they help each other. Also during work hours. And that’s why I love Africa.
