Little by little the walls are coming up. The blocks are made in the Gambia, by hand, and usually on the spot. Like when the kitchen was built with mud blocks: click here. These were already made somewhere else, hence the truck and the workmen, who had to drive through mud and deep puddles of water to bring them. A few weeks after these pictures were made, the heavy raining really started, so we had to stop building for a while. The raining season in the Gambia is roughly from May- October, so we were pretty lucky the heavy rain only started this late (July/August). Some more building logic: building material like cement and sand gets more and more expensive before this season.
