Pay Per Wheel

bouwen-tintinto-ii-481c

Building from a distance: my contact in the Gambia and me are spending a lot of time on the phone at the moment to get everything ready for the wall. Some of the things it needs: 1 “sixwheeler” gravel, 100 bags of cement, a “sixwheeler” sand , water, plywood to make pillars (which are going to be made somewhere else), transport for the blocks and the pillars, etc. etc. With this project, I’m learning everyday. Like funny English or Gambian building logic. Some examples:  I discovered “four corners” means: “square”   (which means rectangular is not four corners), a sixwheeler or a “small trip” is a truck ( there’s also something like a “12-wheeler” or a “big trip” ),  “stone” is gravel, “plenty” is a lot (but maybe not enough) and a “sling” is a ceiling.
